Cristiano Ronaldo: Manchester United star releases statement after he was dropped from first team squad
FootballAntonio Conte Makes Bold Claim About Chelsea and Man United as Pressure Piles Up
- Antonio Conte laughed off suggestions that Manchester United and Chelsea are considered 'in transition'
- The Tottenham boss alluded to the fact that both clubs were better poised financially than the North London club
- Spurs have experienced a spectacular dip in form in recent weeks, suffering four defeats in their last nine games
Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has come out to refute the notion that Manchester United and Chelsea are in transition, claiming both clubs have more money to spend.
Both Chelsea and United are still getting accustomed to their new regimes, with the Blues appointing Graham Potter in September and United giving Erik ten Hag the job in the summer.
Some pundits have suggested that the fact that Tottenham have had their manager Conte for nearly a year gives them a slight edge over both United and Chelsea.
Conte had some strong words to say about that though, saying the two clubs’ financial muscle made it almost impossible to say they are in transition.

“If Chelsea are in transition after they won the Champions League two years ago and last season they won the World Cup, United two years ago finished second; if these clubs that can invest a lot of money are in transition, I don’t know who are the title contenders?” he asked as quoted by Telegraph.
The Italian also pointed out the fact that he took charge of a disjointed Tottenham squad from Nuno Espirito Santo, who only lasted four months at the helm in the North London club.
“In November, we were ninth. We were playing Conference League, and you think United and Chelsea are in transition? With Ronaldo, Varane, Sancho, in transition? I hope to be in transition this way,” he added.

Ten Hag confirms Ronaldo is back in the squad
Sports Brief also earlier reported on Erik ten Hag's confirmation that Cristiano Ronaldo was back in the squad to face Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League.
The latest call comes exactly a week after Cristiano Ronaldo controversially walked down the tunnel, during the match against Tottenham Hotspur.
Things seem to have quietened down at Old Trafford since then, with Ronaldo seen training with the first team once again on Tuesday.
