Cristiano Ronaldo will be in the Manchester United squad to face Sheriff Tiraspol, Erik ten Hag has confirmed.

The latest call comes exactly a week after the Portugal star controversially walked down the tunnel during the match against Tottenham Hotspur.

He was subsequently exiled to train alone by the manager and was an absentee in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea on Sunday.

In his pre-match press conference ahead of the Europa League game, ten Hag confirmed Ronaldo would be in the squad, but was careful not to give away too much to the media.

“It is not difficult,” ten Hag said as quoted by Daily Mail. “I think we said everything, we answered all the questions. He was out for one game and now he is back in the squad.”

Prior to the Chelsea clash, Ronaldo issued a lengthy statement on social media explaining his actions, admitting he walked away from the game against Spurs 'in the heat of the moment'.

Since then, the 37-year-old and ten Hag have reportedly been in constant dialogue, and ten Hag was convinced of Ronaldo's positive attitude to the point of bringing him back to train with the squad.

Ronaldo only has two goals so far this season, with one of them coming in the Europa League.

Lionel Messi shatters Ronaldo’s record

In the Champions League, Sports Brief reported how Lionel Messi shattered Ronaldo’s record in Tuesday's PSG game against Maccabi Haifa.

A rampant PSG put seven past a hapless Maccabi Haifa to remain at the apex of Group H, with Benfica trailing by a goal difference but on the same points.

35-year-old Messi did not only score a brace, but also provided two assists to cap an excellent night out, underlining his renaissance in performance on the back of a torrid first season at the French capital.

Since his UEFA Champions League debut in 2004-05, Lionel Messi has scored more goals from outside the box than any other player in the competition (23 - one more than Cristiano Ronaldo).
