Nigeria's Flamingos have qualified for the semi-final of the ongoing Under-17 Women's World Cup in India, India after beating the United States 4-3 on penalties on Friday afternoon, 21 October.
It was a very tough encounter for coach Bankole Olowookere and his wards, as the American girls gave the Flamingos a serious challenge in this match.
The Nigerian girls started the match impressively, looking for ways to score an early goal against the United States, but they had to wait until the 26th minute before getting the breakthrough through Omamuzo Edafe, who scored via a penalty.

The first half of the quarter-final encounter between Nigeria and USA ended 1-1. Both sides failed to score in the second half, with the match going down to penalties.
In the penalty shootout, Edafe scored the winning goal to take the Flamingos to a 4-3 victory - and the semi-final.
