Kwara United crash out of CAF Confederation Cup as Plateau United lose in Tunisia

Kwara United have crashed out in the CAF Confederation Cup after losing 2-0 to holders RS Berkane on Saturday night, 15 October, in what was a tough game for the Nigerians.

Having won the first leg 3-1 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, Kwara United players traveled to Morocco with boosted morale with the hope of them getting something good.

However, the hosts were so aggressive and were more determined to win the match considering their flurry of attacks.

When did RS Berkane score their goals?

Cheick Quattara gave RS Berkane the lead on 16th minute after a long period of sustained pressure.

Goalkeeper Adewale Adeyinka’s error allowed El Bahri to score the second goal in the 54th minute.

Kwara United were completely kept out of the game by the Moroccans as the Nigerian side had no shot on target in the second half.

They however crashed out of the CAF Confederation Cup on 3-3 aggregate losing on away goal rules.

In the other game, Plateau United crashed out of the 2022/2023 CAF Champions League on away goal rule after succumbing to a late goal against Esperance of Tunisia.

In their second preliminary round second leg match at the Olympic Stadium Hammadi Agerbi, the hosts were awarded a controversial penalty kick in the 83rd minute.

Paul Onuachu nets 4th league goal

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu was in fine form on Saturday night, 15 October, as the Nigerian scored the only goal that helped his side beat Leuven 1-0 in League game.

Onuachu has been proven himself so far this season for Genk as the Nigerian has now grabbed his 4th goal of the season and will hope to replicate the form of last season.

The Nigerian has also netted in three consecutive games for Genk who seat top in the league table after 12 matches.

Onuachu grabbed the only goal of the game after scoring in the 16th minute before going off on 76 minutes.
