This is after Pep Guardiola's charges suffered a 1-0 heartbreaking defeat during their trip to Anfield on Sunday.

The defeat was their first of the season and now leaves them trailing the north Londoners by four points.

Spurs are placed third on the log with 23 points after their hard-fought win over Everton on Saturday, while Chelsea complete the top four slots with 19 points after picking a crucial 2-0 win at Aston Villa.

Elsewhere, Man United suffered an early blow in their top-four bid after they dropped points against Newcastle in their own outing at Old Trafford.

United were unable to find a breakthrough against the Magpies as they settled for a goalless draw to remain fifth on the log.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's 1-0 win over City was enough to see them climb to eighth on the standings with 13 points, but sit a whopping 14 points behind table toppers Arsenal.

Nottingham Forest, Leicester City and Southampton are all battling relegation after a slow start to the campaign.

Forest suffered a 1-0 defeat to Wolves on Saturday, with Southampton and Leicester both managing draws in their fixtures against West Ham and Crystal Palace respectively.

Arsenal set new EPL record

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Arsenal have set a new club record following their 1-0 hard-fought win over Leeds United on Sunday, October 16 at Elland Road.

The victory was Arsenal's ninth from their opening 10 fixtures of the new season, a new record for the club during their more than 130-year existence.

Bukayo Saka was once again the match hero from the Leeds trip, with the youngster scoring the match's winning goal.
