  • Arsenal have not shown any signs of slowing down since they suffered a 3-1 humiliating defeat at Man United earlier in September
  • The north Londoners have picked up an encouraging four wins since that loss, with the latest victory coming during their trip to Leeds United on Sunday
  • Bukayo Saka was once again the match hero from the Leeds trip as the youngster scored the winning goal of the match
  • The victory was Arsenal's ninth from their opening 10 fixtures of the new season, a new record for the club during their more than 130-year existence

Arsenal have set a new club record following their 1-0 hard-fought win over Leeds United on Sunday, October 16, at Elland Road.

The Gunners have enjoyed a hot start to the new season under Mikel Arteta, with the side recording nine wins from their last 10 matches.

The north Londoners' only defeat of the current season came at the hands of rivals Man United at Old Trafford earlier in September.

According to Goal, Arteta's current crop of players is now the first in the club's history to record nine wins from the opening 10 matches of a season.

The Emirates Stadium-based outfit kicked off their campaign with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace before they hammered Leicester City 4-2 and Bournemouth 3-0.

They followed up the three results with wins against Fulham and Aston Villa before they faltered against Man United.

However, they have gone on to record encouraging victories against equally top sides, including Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

Their latest win against Leeds United was enough to cement their place on top of the Premier League standings.

Arteta's charges currently have a four-point advantage over second-placed Man City, who stumbled at Anfield when they played Liverpool on Sunday.

Arsenal backed to win EPL

Earlier, Sports Brief reported former Chelsea and Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole has conceded that Arsenal are favourites to win the Premier League title this season.

According to Cole, the Mikel Arteta-tutored side have all it takes to conquer the English top flight this season.

"I’m a believer now. We’ve seen them (Arsenal) trip up themselves so many times over 10 years, you always want to have another look and another look, but the process Mikel Arteta has been talking about for the last 12-18 months is starting to bear fruition," Cole said.
