Real Madrid is the most decorated club when it comes to Balon d’Or wins as the La Liga giants has had its players win the coveted individual award more than any other team.

Cristiano Ronaldo won the award multiple times as a Real Madrid player while Luka Modric has also picked up the award once in his illustrious career with Los Blancos.

Pascal Ferré, director of France Football who are the organizers of the Balon d’Or awards has revealed that it’s no coincidence that Real Madrid knows how to win the award, SB Nation reports.

“There are machines like Real Madrid that are very strong. Their intelligence is that they support a single player. For years it was Cristiano Ronaldo and now it’s Karim Benzema. That prevents the votes from being dispersed.

“They know how this works. It’s no coincidence if it’s the club that has won it the most times.”

Real Madrid stands another chance of having its player win the award again as Karim Benzema has been nominated for the 2022 award after emerging as the top scorer in the Champions League and La Liga last season.

The French striker played a pivotal role in Madrid’s Champions League success last season, scoring 15 goals throughout the tournament, and emerging as the top scorer.

With 27 goals for Real Madrid, Benzema also won La Liga and the Pichichi Trophy. No other Spanish player in the top division scored more than 18 goals last season.
