“He told us this is how he managed to get the best out of Messi and Lewandowski, and for them to avoid the maximum number of muscular injuries.”

Nasri played just one season under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City in 2017, in the Spaniard’s first season at the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland beats Lionel Messi’s record

Meanwhile, Erling Haaland has surpassed Lionel Messi’s record of the most consecutive goals scored under Pep Guardiola, after netting in Manchester City’s win against Southampton, Talk Sports reports.

Messi’s impeccable record of scoring in 9 successive games under the Spanish tactician has now been eclipsed by the 22-year-old Norwegian forward.

Haaland has scored in 10 consecutive games under Guardiola and the Manchester City forward has now scored a total of 20 goals in all competitions this season.

Guardiola downplays Haaland Messi comparisons

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Pep Guardiola has claimed that there can be no comparisons to Lionel Messi, stating there is nobody on the level of the Argentina captain.

The Spanish tactician has downplayed the comparisons between the new Manchester City forward Haaland and the Paris Saint-Germain forward.

Haaland has netted 19 times in just 12 appearances for the Citizens in what is described as one of the best starts for a striker, but Guardiola believes the forward is nowhere near Messi’s quality.
