Kylian Mbappé continues to make history for Paris Saint-Germain.

The 23-year-old French attacker scored against Benfica in the UEFA Champions League and made history in the process.

Mbappé converted from the spot in the 39th minute of the game to register his 31st goal in the tournament’s history. The goal also took him above Edinson Cavani as the club’s highest goal-scorer in the Champions League to date.

Cavani spent seven years with the French giants and notched up 200 goals during that time. In the Champions League though, he played only 54 games for the French side and notched up 30 goals.

Mbappé on the other hand, has taken just 47 games to score his 31 goals.

Kylian Mbappé has caused reverberations across the football ecosystem with news of his intention to quit Paris Saint-Germain, just five months after he signed a new deal.

Mbappé reportedly feels betrayed by the top brass of PSG, who have reportedly failed to fulfil the promises made to the Frenchman before inking his new deal tying him to the French champions until 2025.

He opted to extend his stay with Les Parisiens after declining an imminent move to join Real Madrid in the summer.
