Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zungu has been given a straightforward task: lose weight.
Head coach Rulani Mokwena said that he was not happy with the progress that the former Bafana Bafana midfielder has made in this regard since returning to the club in August.
According to SowetanLIVE, Mokwena said:
“As incredible a human being as Zungu [is], are we happy with his progress? He knows I’m not happy and I can speak in a personal capacity. He knows that he can do more. I’m not afraid to say it here because I’ve said it to him. But we continue to work and the physical trainer tries to assist him.

It is not easy if you look at where Bongani has been for the last two seasons. It has been very difficult for him. And the subject of weight loss is the subject of conditioning. So it is very difficult to put a time frame in relation to that to lose the number of kilos that he has lost."
Zungu made his third appearance for Bafana Ba Style against Seychelles minnows La Passe on Sunday. They demolished the visitors 7-0 in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round encounter at Loftus Versfeld, as per IOL.
Pitso Mosimane vs Mamelodi Sundowns war far from over after another delay
Pitso Mosimane's tiff with Mamelodi Sundowns is yet to reach a resolution.
In 2021, Sundowns hauled him and Tlhagale Sports Marketing and Management to court in a bid to force them to pay back R8 million in agent fees they had received from the club, as was reported by Sports Brief. The company belongs to Mosimane's wife Moira Tlhagale, who also doubles as his agent.
Legal firm Mabuza Attorneys, which represents Mosimane, failed to attend a pre-trial hearing at the request of Sundown's legal representatives Bowman Gilfillan Inc.
