"We are devastated to announce that fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone has passed away."
"He will be greatly missed by everyone at the Club, and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this impossibly sad time."

According to The Mirror, citing sources in Italy, 'The Marine' as Ventrone was fondly known, passed away in Naples after he was taken ill.

When did Gian Piero Ventrone join Tottenham?

The 62-year-old joined linked up with Tottenham in November 2021 when Antonio Conte was appointed the club's new manager.

The Daily Mail reports that Ventrone was a trusted and valued member of Conte's backroom staff, having previously worked with him at Juventus.

Catania, JS Suning, GZ Evergrande and AC Ajaccio are some of the other clubs the fitness coach has worked with.

It is understood that his intense training regime has been pivotal in Tottenham's strong start to the new season.

The north Londoners have lost only once in the Premier League this term, winning five of their last eight outings.

Conte aims dig at Man United

Earlier, Sports Brief highlighted Antonio Conte’s subtle dig at Manchester United after the Red Devils shipped in six goals against Manchester City.

Conte said he prefers to be pragmatic and put his players in the best situation, stating that in England, it is easy to concede many goals if you employ a proactive style.

The gaffer was accused of not 'going for it' in the London derby on Saturday, after he brought off Richarlison and Son Heung-Min for four defensive-oriented players.
