Barcelona Coach Xavi Sets New La Liga Record, Surpassing Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid Milestone

Barcelona’s coach Xavi has entered the La Liga record books.

The Spanish manager set a new record courtesy of Barca’s 1-0 win over Real Mallorca.

As noted by Barca Blaugranes, Xavi has now gone 18 away games in La Liga without suffering a single defeat. Xavi replaced Ronald Koeman in November last year and has overseen 13 wins and five draws.

His first win came at the hands of Villarreal, as Barca ran out 3-1 winners. The latest victory came courtesy of Robert Lewandowski’s goal as Barca won away at Mallorca.

Their biggest win during that time was a 4-0 win over rivals Real Madrid. Cádiz also suffered defeat by the same score line.

Xavi has now surpassed Zinedine Zidane, who held the previous record while he was the coach of Madrid in 2016, the club’s website confirmed.

Ironically, Barcelona’s next away game is the El Clasico against Los Blancos in two weeks’ time. The game at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will provide Xavi’s record with a legitimate threat.
