Gerard Piqué could yet redeem himself at FC Barcelona.

The veteran defender has fallen out of favour at the club and has become the subject of recent transfer reports.

Despite only playing two games this season so far, Piqué is expected to have a more prominent role going forward due to Barcelona’s injury crisis.

With Barcelona having no right-backs fit for their upcoming fixtures, Xavi may have to rely on his available defenders.

Barca have three specialists in the centre-back position for their upcoming matches; Eric Garcia, Andreas Christensen and Gerard Piqué.

Piqué has the perfect chance to reclaim his spot in the team and prove to Xavi that he is the right man for the job, Marca reported.

Barca wil face Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Valencia, Villarreal and then two games against Inter Milan in the Champions League during the month of October and will need all hands on deck.

As noted by Transfermarkt, Piqué has only played two games this season. He got a full 90 minutes against Cadiz in La Liga and then half of the game against Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League.
