Responding to post-match comments about Trent by Southgate, Agbonlahor advised the Liverpool star to leave international duty until the England manager is removed as manager, according to talkSPORT.
Reece James and Kyle Walker are ahead of the pecking order, while Kieran Trippier, according to Southgate, is a more well-rounded player.
"The other night, we didn’t need the left-back cover. Against Germany, we did because of the way we went with the team so we needed Chilly [Ben Chilwell] on the bench and we had Kieran who, at the moment, I feel his all-round game is ahead of Alexander-Arnold."
Agbonlahor unhappy about Southgate's comments
The manager's comments disappointed the former England striker, who urged the 23-year-old to focus on Liverpool.
“If I was Trent, I would retire from international duty if I don’t get in the World Cup squad. I would retire until a new manager took charge of England. 100 percent."
The footballer turned pundit does not believe that Trippier is better than Alexander-Arnold.
"I do like Trippier but Trent is an all-round better player. Walker and James are better than Trent, but don’t say Trippier."

Leboeuf calls Trent 'championship level' defender
Earlier, Sports Brief reported on French World Cup winner Frank Leboeuf calling Alexander-Arnold a 'championship' defender, saying although he's got elite ability in the final third, he cannot defend.
Leboeuf offered to train with the right-back to help him improve his defensive awareness, which has been brutally exposed in recent weeks.
