The 35-year-old Spanish defender who recently split from long-term partner Shakira tops the list that includes 4 Barcelona players in the top 10 highest paid list.

Despite Barcelona’s well-documented financial struggles, Frenkie de Jong, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba were listed among the highest-paid players in Spain, Barca Universal reports.

According to SPORT, Antoine Griezmann is the only Atletico Madrid player to break into the top 10 highest-paid players in Spain following his switch from Barcelona to the Rojiblancos on a 2-year loan deal.

Barcelona set to terminate Gerard Pique’s contract

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Gerard Pique could leave Barcelona a year early if he continues to play fewer games for the Blaugrana this season, a clause in the defender’s contract has revealed.

Pique has a contract with the Catalan giants that runs until the summer of 2024, but Barcelona are allowed to terminate the defender’s deal a year early.

Pique’s contract can be terminated if he plays less than 35% of Barcelona’s games this season.
