Barcelona’s financial woes did not stop the Catalan club from being ranked amongst the top most valuable football clubs in the world.

The Catalans have been ranked as the second most valuable football club in the world by American business magazine Forbes in its latest publication.

According to Barca Universal, Barcelona has a valuation of $5 billion and comes second just behind La Liga arch-rivals Real Madrid who has a valuation of $5.1 billion.

Barcelona's increased valuation comes amid a significant economic shift that saw the team earn $692 million in income.

The La Liga giants are hoping to have a successful season after a brilliant start to the 2022/23 campaign which saw the club bring in top stars like Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Jules Kounde.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Barcelona are getting ready for a legal battle with rivals Atletico Madrid over the club’s tactics to reduce the game time of Antoine Griezmann.

The Catalans are preparing to take Rojiblancos to court as they believe Atletico Madrid are trying to avoid paying a transfer fee for the French forward, who is on a 2-year loan deal.

Griezmann must be transferred on a permanent basis for €40 million if he featured in over half of Atletico's matches in his first year at the Metropolitano Stadium.
