FootballApparently, the Diego Simeone-coached side were unhappy about Barcelona's asking price. This resulted in Griezmann coming on infamously at the 60th minute for quite a number of Madrid's matches.
Barcelona were preparing to go to court even as rumours emerged of a negotiation breakthrough. The Athletic reports that should the two clubs fail to agree, Griezmann could be available for sale in January,
This could trigger Manchester United to buy a star whom they unsuccessfully tried to bring to Old Trafford in the previous window.
Sports Brief had earlier reported that Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have finally decided to find an amicable solution to Antoine Griezmann’s predicament this season.
Griezmann, who is on a two-year loan from Barcelona to Atletico Madrid, has only made substitute appearances this season for a total of less than 30 minutes each time. Atletico Madrid will be forced to pay Barcelona €40m to purchase Griezmann on a permanent basis if the Frenchman plays 50% of games for Diego Simeone’s men.
Atletico Madrid has now entered talks with Barcelona to reduce the price of Griezmann’s clause to €25m. Due to Griezmann's €20 million salary, which would exceed Barcelona's spending cap, it is reported that the club is keen to avoid having him return to the Camp Nou.
