A staunch FC Barcelona fan gave his girlfriend a fairytale-like proposal during Barcelona's home game against Elche at the Spotify Camp Nou on Saturday, September 17.

The fan disclosed he has been planning for his marriage proposal to his sweetheart for almost two months.

After months of carefully hatching a Hollywood-esque proposal, the fan deemed Barcelona's last home game before the international break as the perfect opportunity to execute his plan.

While Barcelona did not disappoint on the pitch by romping to a routine three-nil win, one of its dyed-in-the-wool members was waiting to propose to his girlfriend with bated breath.

Following the blast of the whistle, he walked closer to his heartthrob with his right hand at his back as his girlfriend was bemused and completely unaware of what was about to ensue.

He eventually brought out the ring, perched in a beautiful jewellery box, to relieve his sweetheart of anxiety and suspense before going on his knees to execute the most important aspect of the whole plan - 'Will you marry me?'

As expected, she accepted the proposal before planting a kiss on the lip of her lover to the cheer of the supporters who witnessed the romantic moment between the couple.
