South Africa is looking to host another global football showpiece event.
The South African Football Association has resolved to campaign for this honour after an executive meeting on Tuesday. The country bid for and was the host of a sensational men's FIFA World Cup back in 2010.
According to IOL via AFP, SAFA's chief executive officer Teboho Motlanthe said:
"We welcomed the world to South Africa when we hosted the men's Fifa World Cup 12 years ago, and we would like to be given an opportunity to roll out the red carpet again in 2027 during the women's tournament."

SA hosted the 64 matches during the month-long tournament in 10 stadiums, of which five were built from scratch, while five others were given much-needed upgrades.
The United States of America is believed to be considering a bid of its own for the 2027 or 2031 event. The country last hosted the women's tournament back in 1999, which it won.
The 2026 men's world cup will be co-hosted by Canada, the US and Mexico. This will be 32 years after hosting the memorable 1994 event.
