David Doherty Releases 7 Point Agenda As Electoral Committee Clears 11 Aspirants for NFF Presidency Seat

Football administrator and entrepreneur David Doherty has been cleared among eleven aspirants vying for the presidency position of the Nigeria Football Federation.

Amaju Pinnick’s board will conclude its second term by September 30, a date also slated for the NFF General Assembly in Benin City as elections will be conducted in various positions.

The NFF states that Seyi Akinwunmi, Shehu Dikko Ibrahim Musa Gusau, Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande, Musa Amadu, and Christian Emeruwa are among those eyeing the presidency position.

Other aspirants chasing the seat to be vacated by Pinnick are David Doherty, Amanze Uchegbulam, Adam Mouktar Mohammed, Peterside Idah and Abba Abdullahi Yola.

Asked why he has decided to contest for the elevated position, the founder of Pathway Sports, David Doherty, told Sports Brief that he is prepared to give Nigerians a positive and inclusive experience for everyone involved in the game.

The ex-footballer added that he will do many things differently to return Nigerian football to its glory days.

He continued:

“Recruit knowledgeable staff to undertake the work of the association; work in partnership with all of our regional FAs, domestic leagues from grassroots to elite level to ensure that the best talents have the right pathways in the sport.”

Ikpeba reportedly endorses Musa Amadu for NFF presidency seat

Sports Brief earlier reported that ahead of the general elections of the Nigeria Football Federation, former Super Eagles star Victor Ikpeba has endorsed Musa Amadu for the position of president.

Ikpeba was joined by the former Gombe State Football Association Chairman, Shuaibu Gara-Gombe, during Amadu's official declaration to vie for the NFF presidency position during the forthcoming elective congress in Abuja on Tuesday.

Speaking at the event, Ikpeba stated that he wanted to see things for himself.
