In-form Ghanaian winger Joseph Painstil has responded to his Black Stars snub with a goal and a Man of the Match performance for KRC Genk in the Belgium league on Sunday.
The 24-year-old opened the scoring as Genk defeated Union Saint-Gilloise on the road to move to second place on the table.
In a video posted on social media, the Ghana international pounced onto a defence splitting pass from Patrik Hrosovsky to net the opener after 15 minutes.
Painstil was forced off in the 37th minute after appearing to be in discomfort following a knock.

Despite playing less than 40 minutes of the game, it was enough to win the pacy winger the Man of the Match award on Sunday.
Union Saint-Gilloise levelled the scores with 15 minutes remaining through Loic Lapoussin, but Genk secured a late winner after Mbwana Samatta scored with the final kick of the game.
Painstil has now scored four goals in eight games for Genk this season and despite his rich run of form, the former Tema Youth striker failed to make coach Otto Addo's team for the international friendlies later this month.
Ghana will play Brazil and Nicaragua as part of preparations ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that fans of the Black Stars of Ghana have reacted to the squad released for the international friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua later this month following the omission of Joseph Painstil.
The in-form forward was dropped by Ghana coach Otto Addo despite his blistering start to the season in Belgium.
Painstil, who has netted three goals and provided an assist in seven games, failed to make the team, with the coach preferring Fatawu Issahaku and Benjamin Tetteh.
