Victor Osimhen Misses Penalty in Napoli’s Victory Over Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League

Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen saw his penalty kick saved by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Napoli forward terrorised the Liverpool defence in the opening minutes of the first half, forcing Virgil van Dijk to foul him in the danger area.

Osimhen failed to convert the spot-kick in the 18th minute as Alisson went the right way to make a crucial block.

The Super Eagles striker, however, started the game on a high note as he hit the woodwork in the third minute before Piotr Zielinski put the Italians ahead from the spot in the fifth minute.

Andre-Frank Anguissa and Giovanni Simeone scored Napoli’s second and third goals respecively before Zielinski found the back of the net again after the break.

It was a terrible opening half from Liverpool as Joe Gomez struggled to deal with Osimhen and was relieved when the Napoli forward trudged off with an injury before half-time, Complete Sports reports.

Meanwhile, Leroy Sane inspired Bayern Munich to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Inter Milan in their opening Group C game in the UEFA Champions League at San Siro.

The Germany international opened the scoring after he showed incredible composure before rounding goalkeeper Andre Onana and slotting home in the 25th minute.

The Bavarians made sure of securing the three maximum points after Danilo D'Ambrosio scored an own-goal following a clever one-two involving Sane.

The reigning German champions were impressive throughout and had 21 attempts on goal, including 11 on target.
