Dru Yearwood has been left red-faced and received a red card as well.
In the strangest circumstances, the Major League Soccer (MLS) player was sent off during the New York Red Bulls’ last game.
As reported by SportBible, Yearwood was sent off for kicking the ball into the stands, injuring two fans in the process.
The incident happened in the latter part of the Red Bulls’ game against Philadelphia. Philadelphia won the game 2-0.

During the game, Yearwood committed a foul near the touchline. Frustrated by the decision, he blasted the ball into the crowd, injuring fans in the process. Yearwood then climbed into the stands to apologise to those hurt but was turned away from a nearby fan.
Yearwood has since released a statement in which he apologised to the fans who were hurt during the incident.
"My emotions got the best of me on this day, and I've let down the entire organization and every single New York Red Bulls fan. I hope the fans are OK and that they can forgive me," he said.
His club, the New York Red Bulls, added that Yearwood was incredibly remorseful but confirmed that they would take measures to ensure that this doesn’t happen in the future.
