  • Kepa Arrizabalaga appeared to provide some moment of brilliance for Chelsea from the bench to help his side beat West Ham United
  • Kepa was seen talking to Kai Havertz like a coach would do before the striker was introduced into the game at Stamford Bridge
  • Havertz ended up bagging his first goal of the season and, in the process, winning the game for Thomas Tuchel's side

Chelsea's 2-1 win over West Ham United at Stamford Bridge was marred with a controversial VAR decision that denied the visitors a point.

Michail Antonio scored a scrappy goal to put his side ahead against the run of play. Ben Chilwell then came off the bench to restore parity before assisting Kai Havertz to score what turned out to be the winner.

Seconds after Havertz's goal, Maxwell Cornet thought he had equalised for West Ham, only for the VAR to chalk the goal off, drawing angry reactions from David Moyes. Jarrod Bowen had been adjudged to have fouled Edouard Mendy in the Chelsea goal.

But hawk-eyed fans spotted Kepa Arrizabalaga passing what looked like some tactical advice to Havertz minutes before the German came on. Havertz started from the bench for the first time this season and was only introduced in the 72nd minute for Matteo Kovacic.

He went on to grab the winner in what has left fans talking about his earlier conversation with Kepa.

Fans remember when the goalkeeper refused to be substituted in 2019 by then-manager Maurizio Sarri prior to the Carabao Cup final penalty shoot-out.

Kepa Arrizabalaga proposes to his long-term partner Andrea Martinez

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Chelsea's second-choice goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga confirmed his engagement to his long-time partner Andrea Martinez.

Kepa took to his Instagram page to announce the message to his fans on the final day of the transfer window.

The Spanish custodian had initially planned on securing a move away from Chelsea this summer but ended up with another deal altogether. He has been severely starved of game time after being demoted to second-choice after the rise of Edouard Mendy.
