Barcelona were not as successful as they had hoped on transfer deadline day after two failed attempts to sign Nabil Fekir and Dani Olmo respectively.

The Catalans were looking to make more additions to their already large squad before the transfer window closed on Thursday, September 1 but were turned down by both players.

According to Sportskeeda, RB Leipzig who owns Dani Olmo and Nabil Fekir’s Real Betis both turned down Barcelona’s bid to sign both stars on loan on transfer deadline day.

Fekir is regarded as an important member of the Real Betis team and has made 129 appearances for his side, scoring 22 goals and providing 25 assists during his time with the La Liga side.

Dani Olmo also has been a part of RB Leipzig since the 2019-20 season and the Spaniard has made 98 appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals and providing 21 assists.

Barcelona prodigy will be registered with first team in January

Meanwhile, Barcelona are ready to extend the contract of midfield sensation, Gavi and promote him to the club’s first team as early as January, 2023, Barca Universal reports.

Last season, Gavi had an incredible breakthrough season for Barcelona and since then, the 18-year-old midfielder has developed into a key member of Xavi's team.

Barcelona and the Spanish international have reportedly reached an agreement on the conditions of a contract extension with the midfield prospect.

Barcelona sign former academy star Hector Bellerin

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Hector Bellerin will make an emotional return to Barcelona this season after agreeing to a deal to join the Blaugrana on transfer deadline day from Arsenal.

The 27-year-old, who is a product of Barcelona’s La Masia academy, returns to the Camp Nou 11 years after leaving for Arsenal in 2011.

Bellerin terminated his contract with the Gunners in order to secure his move back to the Catalan giants this summer.
