  • Brazilian superstar Casemiro has a strange tendency of asking about referees in the games he features in
  • There is however an interesting reason behind It, and it is quite elite
  • Casemiro will likely feature for Manchester United against Southampton on Saturday, August 27

Manchester United’s new signing Casemiro has a tendency of taking on ‘case studies’ of match referees so he knows exactly how to deal with them.

Casemiro is officially a Manchester United player after securing a £70million move from Real Madrid.

Having received his permits, the 30-year-old can feature for his new side as early as Saturday, August 27 when United face Southampton at the Saint Marys Stadium.

Being a defensive midfielder, Casemiro’s role typically puts him at risk of picking up a yellow card or two as he has always been tasked with breaking up attacks, sometimes by any means.

For this reason, the former Real Madrid man has had to adapt, and part of adapting is knowing who he is dealing with in terms of match officials.

Bruno dos Anjos, who is Casemiro’s former teammate, recently spoke to the Telegraph where he opened up on his friend’s tactics pre-game.

"He plays in a role where you talk a lot to the referees and are more likely to receive a card. Anjos said.
"So it’s important that they understand what he says and that he’s able to argue with them if necessary as well.
"It may be helpful in certain situations."

Among Casemiro’s referee dossiers, according to The Sun, is their background, whether they have a job outside football and how strict they are.

He is also interested to know how strict they are.

For the game against Southampton, Andrew Madley will be the man with the whistle.

Casemiro apologises for not speaking English

In his first interview with the Manchester United website, Casemiro delighted fans by politely apologizing for not being able to speak English.

The midfielder spoke on a number of wide-ranging matters, including how John Murtough convinced him to join Manchester United.
