Man United boss Erik ten Hag and his Liverpool counterpart Jurgen Klopp are expected to name strong lineups when the two teams face off against each other on Monday night, August 22.

The match comes at a time when both teams have endured a poor start to the season, with United yet to pick a single point after two matches.

On the other hand, Liverpool have picked just two points from their opening fixtures, with their last outing ending in a 1-1 frustrating draw with Crystal Palace.

As such, the Monday fixture has a lot of significance for both teams as they push to get their campaign back on track.

Liverpool are expected to miss a number of key players during their trip to Old Trafford, with new signing Darwin Nunez out of the clash after he picked a red card against Crystal Palace.

Thiago, Ibrahima Konate, and Diogo Jota are also expected to miss the tie as they are currently sidelined with injuries.

Be that as it may, Klopp still has a pool of talented and experienced players he could draft in for the United meeting.

In the Man United camp, Ten Hag has no major injury concerns and will be hoping his charges will be in the right frame of mind as they hunt for their first points of the season.

Possible starting lineups:

Man United:

De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Malacia; Fernandes, Fred, Eriksen; Sancho, Ronaldo, Rashford

Liverpool:

Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Elliott, Fabinho, Henderson; Salah, Firmino, Diaz
