Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has said that he will stay at the reigning Premier League champions this season.

Silva has been an integral part of the Manchester City team in recent years, but the Portugal international was initially keen on a move to Barcelona.

The Portugal international scored 48 goals across 251 first-team appearances for Manchester City since his transfer from Monaco in 2017 and has flourished under Pep Guardiola's coaching.

Silva was on the verge of departing the Etihad for Camp Nou but he has now looked to distance himself from any speculation over an exit.

Speaking after Manchester City’s 3-3 stalemate against Newcastle United at the St. James Park, a game Silva scored, he said.

“I’m happy here. I’m doing everything possible to help the club and I’m very focused”, as per reports from Marca.

Meanwhile, new reports have emerged that Bernardo Silva asked Barcelona to sign him via a text message in 2021.

The Manchester City star has been at the centre of a silent war between Pep Guardiola and his former player turned coach Xavi Hernandez.

Numerous reports claim that Xavi is heavily interested in signing the Portuguese utility player this summer. The Daily Mail understands that Silva asked Barcelona officials to draw up a contract for him when they were signing Ferran Torres.

But Foot Mercato reports that PSG are interested in the Portuguese international too, as Sporting Advisor and compatriot Luis Campos is a big admirer of the former AS Monaco star.
