La Liga Set to Change Name As Spanish League Signs 5 Year Deal With New Sponsors

The Spanish La Liga is going through some major changes ahead of the new season after sealing a major title sponsorship deal with popular gaming company, EA Sports.

La Liga will no longer be known as the La Liga Santander after they ended their 8-year relationship with the retail banking company which had generated €17m per year in naming rights.

According to Football Espana, La Liga has agreed a deal with EA Sports for the coming five years and the deal is believed to be worth around €40m.

Each of the Primera, Segunda, and Promises divisions as well as the eSports league will have the name of EA Sports after the gaming company secured the naming rights from La Liga.

EA Sports, which is best known in Europe for developing the well-liked football game FIFA, recently severed relations with football's regulatory body and will now be releasing the game under the name EA Sports FC.

Former Barcelona star Arthur agrees to join La Liga club on loan

Meanwhile, former Barcelona star, Arthur Melo has agreed to leave Juventus and spend the rest of this season on loan at Valencia.

The midfielder was left in Italy while his Juventus teammates went on a preseason tour of America because he has been surplus to requirements at the Allianz Stadium Juve reports.

Arthur has now given the green light to the loan transfer all that is left now is for the Bianconeri and Valencia to reach an agreement.

La Liga president Javier Tebas wants Cristiano Ronaldo back in Spain

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Javier Tebas says he will be excited to see the return of Cristiano Ronaldo to Spain following reports linking the former Real Madrid talisman to Atletico Madrid.

Ronaldo has been heavily linked with a return to Spain as he tries to force a move away from Manchester United this summer.

The 37-year-old still has a year remaining on his £360,000-a-week deal at Manchester United, but wants to walk away from the club early.
