Premier League side Arsenal have appointed Norwegian midfielder Martin Odegaard as the club's new captain ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Odegaard, formerly of Real Madrid, initially joined the Gunners on loan before going on to sign a permanent deal with the Emirates Stadium outfit and will lead Arsenal in the forthcoming season.
He succeeds Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who was shipped out of the team to Barcelona in January and is expected to bring his exceptional leadership skills to the fore.

The 23-year-old Norwegian international will have his first taste as Arsenal skipper against Sevilla in the annual Emirates Cup on Saturday, July 30.
A statement on the club's official website reads: "The 23-year-old has made a huge impact since arriving at Emirates Stadium from Real Madrid in January 2021, initially on loan, and has gone on to play 60 times, scoring nine goals."
