- The next round of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers set for September have been pushed back until March next year
- According to a report, CAF decided to take this decision to allow teams that have qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup to prepare for this tournament
- Senegal, Ghana, Morocco, Cameroon and Tunisia will represent the continent in Qatar between November and December
There will not be any 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for the rest of this year.
According to a report, the fixtures set for September have been postponed until next March, allowing teams that have qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be better prepared for the campaign in Qatar. Senegal, Ghana, Morocco, Cameroon and Tunisia will do battle in the Middle East between November and December.
An AFP article reported CAF stating in a document:
"The postponement of the Cup of Nations offered an opportunity to reschedule the remaining qualifying matches. It also makes it possible to open the dates in September to international friendly matches for preparation for the World Cup."

With AFCON 2023 set to be hosted by the Ivory Coast in January 2024, Sport24 reported that the third and fourth qualifying rounds have now been scheduled for March. Rounds five and six will take place in June
CAF makes decision on Nigeria's bid talk to host 2025 Nations Cup
An official of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has stated clearly that the 2025 Nations Cup will be hosted in Guinea despite Nigeria confirming interest to host.
As reported by Sports Brief, Amaju Pinnick who is the President of the Nigerian Football Federation explained recently that he and his team are planning to step in to co-host the 2025 African Cup of Nations.
There have also been talks that the 2025 African Cup of Nations could be moved away from Guinea, but a CAF top man has dismissed such speculation.
