President Buhari Reacts, Makes Order After Super Falcons Money Protest in Morocco

Muhammadu Buhari who is the President of Nigeria has ordered for the release of some funds for the payment of Super Falcons' allowances at the ongoing 2022 AWCON in Morocco.

This latest development came after the Nigerian girls refused to train on Wednesday evening, 20 July, with hours to their third place game against Zambia.

Super Falcons are being owed millions of naira by the authorities in charge of football who were expecting a bail out from the Federal Government.

According to the report on Leadership, Toyin Ibitoye who is the Special Assistant to the Sports Minister Sunday Dare on Multimedia confirmed that the President has approved the players to be paid.

Toyin Ibitoye's confirmation about Super Falcons' money

“The money issues are being sorted. Mr President has given approval for the intervention fund requested by the Ministry for the Super Falcons. The Ministry of Finance is working on processing and releasing the funds.
“I don’t know the exact figure but the budget covers the bonuses and allowances of the team for the 2022 WAFCON.''

Super Falcons of Nigeria fought hard in their semifinal battle against Morocco before losing the tie 5-4 on penalties.

Morocco Beat Super Falcons of Nigeria in Tough AWCON 2022 Semifinal

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Super Falcons of Nigeria on Monday night, 18 July, lost 5-4 on penalties to the Lionesses of Morocco in the semifinal of the 2022 African Women Cup of Nations which was a tough battle.

The hosts knew what a win would do for them before the start of the encounter and they began aggressively firing in all cylinders looking for goal against the Super Falcons.

And after the first 15 minutes of the encounter, the Morocco players looked tired and the Super Falcons of Nigeria started playing better.

Nigeria had some chances to score in the first half with the likes of Ajibade and Uchenna coming close, but they were unable to find the back of the net as it ended goalless.
