Drama in Morocco As Super Falcons Boycott Training After Making Demands From Nigeria Football Federation

The Super Falcons of Nigeria reportedly boycotted training on Wednesday morning following the refusal by the Nigeria Football Federation to pay their bonuses.

Falcons are said to be demanding immediate payment of their appearance fee ahead of their third-place final match against Zambia.

It was gathered that the NFF has promised to fulfil the promises, but so far, the ladies have not been paid.

The Falcons are scheduled to take on Zambia on Friday at the Stade Mohamed V, Casablanca on Friday in the bronze medal match.

Sahara Reporters also confirmed that the female national team players failed to show up for their training to protest the non-payment of some of their entitlements.

Nigeria Soccernet reports that it is not the first time that the Super Falcons have protested unpaid allowances.

After emerging champions at the 2004 Africa Women’s Championships, the team remained in their hotel in South Africa for three days protesting unpaid allowances.

Nigeria goalkeeper decries too many distractions in Morocco

Meanwhile, Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has lamented the level of distractions she and her teammates faced against hosts Morocco at the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations tournament.

Nigeria were shown red cards in the 48th and 71st minute as the North Africans eventually win the tie 5-4 via penalties after the game had ended 1-1 in regulation time.

The Nigerian goalkeeper clearly stood out during the fiery contest, denying the Atlas Lionesses several goals after the Falcons were overpowered.

Nnadozie was named player of the match, and after the game, she attributed the loss to the wave of distractions from the opposition.

Sports Brief earlier reported that Nigerian striker Asisat Oshoala, who currently plays for Barcelona, has made the final shortlist for the 2022 CAF Women's best player of the year award.

The Nigerian star has been in brilliant form this year and also won the award four times before so far in her glorious football career.

Ajara Nchout Njoya of Cameroon and Zambia’s grace Grace Chanda are other nominees for the prestigious prize.
