  • Newly re-elected South African Football Association president Danny Jordaan is expected to name his deputy president soon
  • Jordaan regained his position as the boss of the country's football governing body with a landslide victory last month
  • He was speaking while out in Morocco, where Banyana Banyana is chasing their maiden Women's Africa Cup of Nations title

SAFA president Danny Jordaan has revealed that he is in the process of naming his deputy president.

Jordaan swept back into office with a crushing victory in the controversial elective congress that was held in June.

According to the Daily Sun, Jordaan, who is in Morocco to show support for Banyana Banyana in the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, said:

"This is a decision that we will take at the meet at the meeting of the National Executive Committee. When we get back there are several things that we have to do, including conversations about Vision 2030, which comes in two phases.

"Football is organised globally in four years, so 2022 ends with the world cup in Qatar, then the first phase is from 2022 to 2026, which is the second world cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada; a 48-team tournament where Africa will have nine spots. We want to make sure we are one of those nine."

In June, SAFA promised that it would pay R9 million to Banyana should they return from the WAFCON with a maiden title. He encouraged them to win tonight's semifinal match against Zambia as a tribute to Nelson Mandela on International Day, which would have been Madiba's 104th birthday, as per SowetanLIVE.

Economic Freedom Fighters demand equal pay for the outstanding Banyana Banyana

The South African women's national team has found itself an ally in the most unexpected but ultimately unsurprising of places.

As reported by Sports Brief, the Economic Freedom Fighters have come forward and called for Banyana Banyana to receive the same pay as their underperforming male counterpart Bafana Bafana.

The EFF released a press statement imploring SAFA, the government and sponsors to throw behind the side, which is chasing its first-ever Women's Africa Cup of Nations tournament out in Morocco.
