Newly-signed Manchester City player Kalvin Phillips has penned a touching message to his former manager Marcelo Bielsa and the entire Leeds United fan base.

Manchester City confirmed that they had completed the signing of Phillips on a six-year deal. The England international has been signed as a replacement for the long-serving Fernandinho who left the club at the end of last season.

Taking to his Twitter account, the 26-year-old thanked former Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa who was responsible for guiding the club back to the English top-flight for the first time in 16 years.

I cannot mention Leeds without mentioning one special person – Marcelo.

The best manager I have ever come across. He was a man that gave the club life, he gave the players, and everyone involved in the club belief that we were good enough to return to the premier league after 16 years. Not only did you give the club everything, but you also gave me everything I needed to become the person I am today on and off the field.

Phillips has been a Leeds player since he was 14 years old and he also took time to thank his teammates.
