He is understood to have four main routines that help him work on his pace during a game. He does hamstring stretches, pillar skips and lunges that help him with his movement. He also skips with ropes and does some squats to strengthen his legs.

He then uses cones and hurdles to work on his dribbling skills and the result has been tremendous, as very few players can rival him when it comes to dribbling.

The Argentine then drinks water towards the end of the training session to cool down and hydrate his body.

No sugar in Messi's diet

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner has enlisted the services of an Italian nutritionist, Giuliano Poser, to advise him on what to eat. Poser is said to have advised him to stay away from sugar while taking lots of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

Sugar is the worst thing for the muscles. The further he stays away from sugars, the better. Refined flours are also a big problem as these days, it’s difficult to find uncontaminated wheat.

Messi has also been advised constantly to stay away from pizza.
