Ghanaian Goalkeeper Reveals Inspiration Behind Spiderman Toy at AFCON 2017

Ghanaian goalkeeper, Razak Brimah, has revealed that the famous Spiderman toy he brought to games at AFCON 2017 was a good luck gift from his son.

Brimah, who was Ghana's first choice goalkeeper at the Nations Cup in Gabon 2017, will place the toy beside his post before every match.

In an interview with Original FM, the 35-year-old disclosed that his son gave him the Spiderman to keep as his good luck charm.

"My son gave me his Spiderman toy when I was leaving for the AFCON, he said it'll give me luck. So I placed it in my goalpost anytime I played in the AFCON, and I've kept it since," he said.

Razak Brimah fell off with Ghanaian football fans following his rant after the semi-final defeat to Cameroon.

The veteran shot-stopper took the chance to apologize to Ghanaians for his unsportsmanlike behaviour five years later.

"I'll use your platform to apologize to all Ghanaians for everything that happened, I am deeply sorry," he added.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Cordoba goalkeeper is currently the first-choice goalie for Spanish lower-tier side Deportivo Linares.

He is yet to call it a quit with the national team despite not receiving an invite since the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
