  • Linares Deportivo goalkeeper Razak Braimah has said he is better than the goalkeepers named by Black Stars coach Otto Addo ahead of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers and international games
  • Braimah, who earned a silver medal as Ghana finished in second position at the 2015 AFCON, last kept post for the Black Stars in 2017
  • Ghana's goalkeeping department for the upcoming international assignments features Richard Ofori of Orlando Pirates, Swindo Town's Jojo Wollacott, St Gallen's Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Abdul Manaf Nurudeen of KAS Eupen

Spain-based Ghanaian shot-stopper Razak Braimah argues that he is better than the goalkeepers named in the recent Black Stars call-up.

He enjoyed an incredible season in the Spanish third-tier with Linares Deportivo, keeping 8 clean sheets and conceding 28 goals in as many games played.

Speaking on a Twitter space hosted by Sports Journalist Alexander Anyankwaa, Razak contends he would have manned the post ahead of current No.1 Jojo Wollacott and Orlando Pirates shot-stopper Richard Ofori.

"With all due respect, I can do much better than them [Wollacott and Ofori]. I respect them a lot but in terms of quality? I should be part and I will play all the games with all due respect to my teammates and my colleague goalkeepers." he said as quoted by Footy Dreams.
"Those who follow me at my club side and know me from my time at the Black Stars and also understand football know that I’m 100% [good]. I’m not bragging but I know what I can do and those that know football, know 100%,” he said.

Comparing Braimah with the four goalkeepers named for the 2023 AFCON qualifiers and pre-World Cup tournament, Razak (8) ranks behind Jojo Wollacott (11) and Richard Ofori (9) in terms of clean sheets.

In terms of goals conceded, Braimah ranks only second behind Richard Ofori with 28 goals.

Black Stars goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott named in League Two Team of the Season

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Jojo Wollacot has been named in the 2021-22 League Two Team of the season following his excellent performances this campaign.

Having joined Swindon Town from Championship club Bristol City last year, Wollacott has been in sensational form between the sticks since becoming a Robin.

The 25-year-old has kept 11 clean sheets in 37 appearances so far in the league for his team.
