Embattled Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is set to remain at the club despite previous reports linking him with a move away.
Maguire has been on the receiving end of attacks and banter from football fans for questionable performances and his apparent 'inability' to lead the club.
There have been widespread calls to strip him of captaincy duties at the club. It is one of the issues that new manager Erik ten Hag will deal with as he continues to prepare for his first season in charge.
Now the Daily Mail reports that a decision has been arrived at to keep Maguire at the club. Ten Hag has decided to keep the England international as one of his centrebacks alongside Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof.
However, Maguire's starting berth could come under intense pressure as ten Hag looks to sign a new centre-back if the club can offload Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe.
The Mirror additionally reports that the captaincy issue will now be determined when the players come back for preseason. Previous reports have suggested that David De Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo are firm favourites to succeed the former Leicester man.
