- The businesswoman, socialite and reality television star hopes that 'Thwihli Thwahla' will give a very good account of themselves in the CAF Confederations Cup
- Against all the odds, Royal finished in third place last season, and came to within a match of playing in the Nedbank Cup
Success breeds more success, with Shauwn 'MaMkhize' hoping her charges Royal AM does just that next season
MaMkhize is targeting a strong showing when Thwihli Thwahla participates in their debut CAF Confederations Cup campaign in the 2022/23 campaign. The club got there after surprisingly finished in third place on the DStv Premiership table, in a season where they got to the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup semifinals.
According to SowetanLIVE, she said:
“The past season had been exciting, amazing... seeing our players finish in the top three and that was not what I expected. I’m looking forward to going to Africa. It is a new challenge. It was a challenge for me to get into the PSL. Now I have another challenge going to Africa and I’m looking forward to it. It has been an amazing season.”
In order to maintain a challenge at home and aboard, the club will need to strengthen considerably, with former Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic already being linked with a move to Durban, as per Goal.
Mkhize added:
“We must have two clubs because what we noticed is that towards the end of the season, we only had one defender due to injuries. So we learned from that and we said we must increase the squad so that they are not drained. So wait for my [media] conference on the 28th [of June] where we will announce new players and the new coach.”
