Huge Surprise As European Giants Announce The Sacking of Super Eagles Legend

Former Super Eagles defensive midfielder Seyi Olofinjana has been sacked as the technical sporting director at Swiss Super League side Grasshopper Club Zurich which came as a surprise.

Following the club's promotion to the first division in May 2021, Seyi Olofinjana was named as the sporting director, with those in charge of the side pleased with his working experience.

But just one year as sporting director, eggheads at Grasshopper Club Zurich decided to release the former Wolves and Kwara United midfielder.

According to the reports on GOAL and TVC News, the club's president Sky Sun made the announcement that Seyi Olofinjana has been fired.

Sky Sun's statement on Olofinjana's sacking

“The board of directors together with the concerned parties came to this decision in the best interest of the club’s future in order to keep pursuing its ambitious goals in the years to come.
“I would like to thank Seyi for his always professional and constructive collaboration. He contributed significantly to the club and guided GC through an important chapter of its history.”

Meanwhile, Grasshoppers finished 8th in the Swiss elite league last season.

Nottingham Forest ready to smash transfer record to sign Super Eagles striker

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi could be set for a return to the English Premier League as newly-promoted Nottingham Forest are on the verge of completing a deal for the forward.

Forest has entered an advanced stage of negotiation with the Union Berlin striker, who scored a total of 15 league goals for the Bundesliga outfit last season.

Forest, are returning to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years are willing to shatter the club’s transfer record to sign the Nigerian striker.

The Reds are ready to pay £17.5 million for Awoniyi, eclipsing their previous club transfer record of £13.5 million paid on Joao Carvalho back in 2018-19.

Awoniyi will be Nottingham Forest first summer signing when the deal is completed as The Reds seek to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2022/23 season.
