St. Pauli midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has reportedly reached an agreement in principle to join German Bundesliga club Freiburg.
The Black Stars attacking midfielder was one of the most in-form Ghanaian players abroad last season, scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists in the Bundesliga 2.
He was one of Ghana's best players at a disastrous Africa Cup of Nations early this year in Cameroon.
St. Pauli have been in talks with Freiburg over the last few weeks, and according to the Kicker, an agreement has now been reached between the two clubs.
The report claims that the German Bundesliga side could pay €4.5m plus add-ons to bring Kyereh to the club.
With the midfielder left with just one-year remaining on his deal at St. Pauli are looking to cash in on him in order not to risk losing him on a free transfer in 2023.
Meanwhile, Freiburg are facing competition from Borussia Monchengladbach, Stuttgart and Mainz for the signature of the Ghanaian.
But newly-promoted Werder Bremen appear to have dropped out of the race.
"We had good talks and a really good exchange. I don't think the decision was that easy for him [Kofi Kyereh] either. In the end, he decided to go another way, which is really a shame. But sometimes that's just the way it is in football," Werder head of first team football and scouting Clemens Fritz Fritz told reporters on Sunday, as quoted by bulinews.com.
