Samuel Eto'o has made a U-turn on his post match rants following Cameroon's lackluster display against Burundi.

The five times African champions pipped Burundi 1-0 in their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Thursday.

However, the performance was far from the best as Eto'o went in hard at the Cameroon players in a video that has since gone viral.

In the video, Eto'o said: “I am not happy. I don’t care who you play against; you represent Cameroon. I am not happy at all. In my time, I missed the World Cup because I knew what problems I had. Those problems won’t repeat themselves while I’m president.”
"Places in this team will be earned. Nobody, I repeat, nobody has a place guaranteed in this team. You must do your job. Whoever comes here to wear this shirt must do the job, else he goes and I will be happy to have the children play.”

But later on Friday, the former Barcelona star took to social media to congratulate the team on their hard-fought win.

"Bravo Lions for kicking off the AFCON 2023 qualifiers with a victory against Burundi - let’s keep up the momentum," wrote Eto'o on Twitter.

Karl Toko Ekambi netted the only goal of the game in the 30th minute as the Indomitable Lions walk home with all three points.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that legendary Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto'o expressed his dissatisfaction with the performance of the Indomitable Lions in their narrow win over minnows Burundi in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

The Cameroon football chief was left fuming after the five-time African champions laboured to a one-nil win over the Swallows of Burundi in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

In a video posted on Twitter, sighted by Sports Brief, a visibly unhappy Samuel Eto'o took a swipe at the players for their wastefulness while threatening the replace the current crop with 'children'.
