South African Football Association president Danny Jordaan is calling for the Premier Soccer League to limit squad sizes.
This is so that the trend of unnecessary signings of players by clubs with deep pockets, only to deny them much game-time, stalling their career progress. Jordaan believes that this system would create a space in which players have the necessary opportunity to grow properly while ensuring healthy competition within local football

“Football players must play football. That’s a simple answer. If I’m in a squad where I know I’m not going to play a single match for a whole year, am I going to be motivated to train every day? Adding that the limit should be capped at 35 players, he added:
