Nigerian football has been thrown into a state of panic after two former Nigerian football federations officials were abducted on Saturday, June 18.
Sani Toro, a former Secretary of the NFF and a former assistant coach of the Nigeria Super Eagles, Garba Yila, alongside one other friend Isa Jah were kidnapped in Nasarawa State.
They were said to have been on their way back to Bauchi from Abuja, where they attended the wedding of the son of a former NFF President, Aminu Maigari, when the sad incident occurred.
According to a report via the Punch, the kidnappers have now demanded N150m as ransom for the abductees before they can regain their freedom.
The gunmen are said to be demanding N50m each for the three persons abducted as one of the abductees is believed not to be in a good health condition.
Police confirm abduction of former NFF officials
Meanwhile, the Nigerian police have confirmed the abduction of two former NFF officials and they described the incident as a sad one.
According to Premium Times, the Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakili, while confirming the abduction, said he is not privy to the full details of the incident but promised to keep everyone updated with the case once new information is disclosed.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Bauchi State has also condemned the act of kidnapping and the rising insecurity in the country was worrisome.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported the Nigeria Football Federation is racing against time to name a new coach for the Super Eagles as the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers is around the corner.
The AFCON qualifiers kick-off in June and barely three weeks before the first game, the Super Eagles of Nigeria are without a coach.
It was gathered that members of the NFF recently had a meeting with the Ministry of Sports and plans are underway to conduct interviews with prospective candidates for the vacant Super Eagles coaching role.
