  • Gareth Bale left English Premier League club Tottenham in 2013 and joined Real Madrid for a staggering £85.1 million
  • The playmaker spent nine years at the Santiago Bernabeu winning five Champions Leagues, three La Liga titles and lots more
  • He has now been placed among the legends on the club’s website despite his tough times with the Spanish media and fans

Welsh superstar Gareth Bale has been given his deserved recognition by Real Madrid as he has been placed in the legends section of the club’s website.

The former Tottenham captain joined the Spanish club for £85.1 million in 2013 and spent nine seasons winning five Champions Leagues, three La Liga titles, three UEFA Super Cups and three FIFA Club World Cups.

Bale made 258 appearances for the club and found the back of the net 106 times including important strikes in the 2014 and 2018 Champions League finals.

SPORTbible reports that things however turned sour as he had tough times with the Spanish media as his own fans also booed him during matches.

Unlike Marcelo who was given a special farewell ceremony, the 32-year-old did not get a send-forth when he announced he was leaving, in an emotional letter.

Bale leaves the Santiago Bernabeu outfit with 16 trophies to his name and was handed a standing ovation during the Champions League celebrations at the club’s home ground.

And now he has been listed among the club’s legends as his profile is placed alongside Alvaro Arbeloa, Angel Atienza and Juan Begur.

After guiding Wales to the World Cup in Qatar, Bale is now searching for a new club and has been linked with a whole array of clubs.

Speaking earlier this week about his future, Bale explained:

"I can't really say. I haven't really looked at everything yet. I have options. I don't have a timescale.
"I know possible destinations but it's something I need to sit down, first and foremost with my family, and then I need to speak with managers and physios and decide what's the best move for me, my family and my kids."

Bale reacts after helping Wales secure World Cup ticket

Meanwhile, Sports Brief earlier reported that Gareth Bale has expressed his delight after Wales booked a World Cup spot for the first time since 1958.

Wales have not played on the global football stage for 64 years, with all their previous attempts hitting a dead end.

The Dragons beat all the odds to secure qualification for the 2022 edition of the World Cup after sinking Ukraine 1-0 at the Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday, June 5.
