The Robert Matano-tutored side were neck-to-neck in the title race with Kakamega Homeboyz, with nothing to separate them into the final round of matches of the season on Sunday, June 12.

Both teams needed a convincing win in their respective fixtures as they were level on points, with Tusker boasting of a superior goal difference.

Homeboyz earn walkover after Kariobangi Sharks failed to honour fixture

There was an interesting twist on the last day of the campaign as Kakamega Homeboyz were handed all the three points after Kariobangi Sharks failed to turn up for their fixture.

That meant that Tusker needed to see off Posta Rangers to retain the prestigious crown.

And Kimanzi's charges did enough to down an initially stubborn Posa Rangers side, winning 2-0 to cart home the trophy.

Shaphan Oyugi and Jackson Macharia were both on target for the brewers, with the duo scoring on either half of the match.

Bestsafe withdraws sponsorship for Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Kenya's biggest clubs Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards are set to lose their main sponsor.

Betsafe is understood to have terminated its contract with the two clubs with immediate effect.

Reports indicate that the Betsafe will pull out of the deal that was supposed to last for three years. The betting company has been sponsoring the two clubs for the last two years.

The initial deal was agreed way back in June 2020. The Green Army was to get a figure of 55 million Kenya shillings while their archrivals were to get 40 million shillings.
