Derek Boateng has made an interesting revelation about his first encounter with Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho.
The former Ghana midfielder met Jose Mourinho during his time in Spain with La Liga side Getafe while the Portuguese gaffer was manager at Real Madrid.
Boateng disclosed in an interview with Ghanaian Sports Journalist Dan Kwaku Yeboah that Mourinho had to play him for 90 minutes in a charity match to get him tired before Getafe played the Spanish giants.
Prior to the meeting between Getafe and Real Madrid, there was a charity game between Fredrick Kanaute XI and Sergio Ramos XI.
Mourinho was coach of the Kanoute XI, which had a lot of Africans including Boateng.
"The charity game was on a Tuesday. Mourinho comes in, greets and says everybody is going to play 45 minutes because there are matches at the weekend. The only player who will play 90 minutes is Derek Boateng," said Boateng.
"I was the star at Getafe and my first year in Getafe, I was MVP. So when he said that I laughed, only for him to walk to me and tell me, you will play 90 minutes and you will be tired before our game," Boateng added.
Derek Boateng fell sick after the charity match and had to spend three days in the hospital.
The ex-Getafe star ended up playing the game as they lost 3-2 to Real Madrid.

The 38-year-old who was speaking on GTV Sports Plus' Saving the Passion show made some interesting revelations about what he saw during his time with the Black Stars especially at the Nations Cup in Gabon 2012.
