Robin van Persie opens up on his decision to snub Man United
The ex-Arsenal captain has now cited family as the key reason he turned down a move to the Theatre of Dreams.
According to the Netherlands international, family commitments informed his thinking in snubbing his former club.
"My son and daughter are important right now," Van Persie told the Life After Football magazine.
"In London, when I played at Arsenal, we moved five times. We also lived in Manchester and Istanbul. All in all, we were away for almost 14 years. But then we thought "what's good for the kids now?" and felt a little stability would be nice," he added.
Van Persie spent three years with the Red Devils between 2012 and 2015, scoring 58 goals in 105 appearances.
The ex-striker played a key role in United winning their last Premier League title in 2012-13 under Sir Alex Ferguson.
