  • Former Barcelona head coach and current Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has expressed his belief in Bayern Munich’s striker Robert Lewandowski fitting in at Barcelona
  • Lewandowski is widely expected to force a move to Barcelona after boldly claiming that his chapter with Bayern Munich is over and done with
  • Guardiola worked with Lewandowski during his days as Bayern Munich's head coach where he won the Bundesliga title three times and a host of other trophies

Pep Guardiola has come out to explain that Robert Lewandowski will be a perfect fit for Barcelona. Lewandowski has made it abundantly clear that his time at Bayern Munich is over and he would love a new challenge.

Lewandowski has been one of the world’s most lethal finishers save for this season where he was slightly eclipsed by Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema. He has one year left on his contract but wants to quit this summer.

His former coach Guardiola has said that Lewandowski could blend in well in Xavi Hernandez’s side as Marca reports. The current Manchester City boss is however unsure if Barcelona can afford the Polish striker.

I have no idea, to be honest, but would he be a good fit? We are talking about Lewandowski.
He would adapt perfectly well anywhere. But I don't know if Barcelona can sign him because of their financial situation or if Bayern Munich will let him leave.

Guardiola was speaking during the preview of the Puma Legends Trophy Tournament at the Pula Gold Resort in Mallorca. He was also quizzed about his former player Xavi who was appointed as Barcelona’s coach late last year.

I don't know the circumstances, but I think he has certainly done a good job.

Xavi oversaw Barcelona’s steady rise from ninth on the log to finish second behind eventual champions Real Madrid. The Catalans however finished the season trophyless after heartbreaking defeats in the Europe League by the eventual champions Eintracht Frankfurt and by Atletico Bilbao in the Copa Del Rey.

Lewandowski reiterated he wants to leave Bayern Munich

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Robert Lewandowski had once again claimed that he wants to leave German champions Bayern Munich in the summer so as for him to face new challenges in his football career.

The striker has won eight Bundesliga titles and scored over 300 goals with Bayern Munich since joining in 2014 from Borussia Dortmund.

And according to the latest information provided by journalist Fabrizio, Robert Lewandowski explained that he wants to leave Bayern because he feels something has died in him.
